Our mediation services are exceptional and extremely beneficial to anyone facing difficulties, no matter the issue at hand. One area that we specialize in is separation and divorce. We empathize and sympathize that making the decision to separate, or divorce is not an easy one and we don’t take this assignment lightly.

The Differences Between Mediation & Arbitration
Mediation
Blacks Law Dictionary (7th Edition) defines mediation as a voluntary method of nonbinding dispute resolution involving a neutral third party who tries to help the disputing parties reach a mutually agreeable solution. Mediation is precedent to arbitration.
Arbitration
Arbitration is defined as a method of binding dispute resolution.
ORS 36.670 - A party to an arbitration proceeding may be represented by a lawyer admitted to practice in this state or any other state. A corporation, business trust, partnership, limited liability company, association, joint venture or other legal or commercial entity may be represented by a lawyer admitted to practice in this state or any other state, by an officer of the entity, or by an employee or other agent authorized by the entity to represent the entity in the proceeding. [2003 c.598 §16]
Under ORS 36.670 Slingshot Legal Services acts as agent for any corporation, business trust, partnership, limited liability company, association, joint venture or other legal or commercial entity in any private arbitration proceeding. By allowing Slingshot Legal Services to represent our clients under ORS 36.670, allows our clients to keep their legal costs down, while being represented by a very knowledgeable legal professional. While lawyers are a great asset, not every dispute require a lawyer. Slingshot Legal Services allows their clients to have that option.
